What if we sent the creator, not the creation?

Could autonomous spacecraft carry the capability to create life elsewhere, rather than transport living organisms across the stars?

What If? Part 6: What if we sent the creator, not the creation?

What If? | Part 6 of 7
WHAT IF WE SENT THE CREATOR, NOT THE CREATION?
We imagine colonizing distant planets by sending humans across the stars.
But what if there's another way?
Imagine thousands of autonomous spacecraft travelling to potentially habitable planets across our galaxy.
No humans. No living organisms.
Just AI, robotics, 3D manufacturing and the digital blueprints of life.
Each spacecraft studies its destination and, with sufficiently advanced technology, attempts to create life suited to that world.
Different planets. Different environments. Different forms of life.
Over millions of years, some might even evolve into intelligent civilizations.
Perhaps we don't need to send civilization across the stars.
We need to send the capability to create one.
And here's a thought that fascinates me even more.
If we could someday do this, could another civilization have done something similar billions of years before us?
It's an interesting possibility to think about.
And it leads to my final question:
Why are humans so relentlessly driven to create, discover and achieve more?
